Leinster Club JFC
We open our Leinster Club Junior Football Championship campaign against the Kilkenny intermediate champions in The Downs on Saturday at 2pm. Our opponents will be either Lisdowney or Piltown who face off in the Kilkenny IFC final on Wednesday evening. Despite the quick turnaround facing the winners, we won’t be taking them for granted as we seek a first-ever win in Leinster. All support for the lads in The Downs would be greatly appreciated.
Novelty Act group reach Leinster final
Our Novelty Act group are through to the Leinster Scór Sinsir final after another brilliant performance last Sunday evening. Fresh from their county final success seven days earlier, the group comprising Bernice Kelly, Brenda O’Connor, Martin Dowdall, Pat Lynagh, Eileen O’Neill and Geraldine Fennell came through the Leinster semi-final at the Allenwood GAA Complex in Co. Kildare with flying colours to reach next Sunday’s provincial final in Carnew, Co. Wicklow.
Well done all!
JFC ‘B’ quarter-final
Our second team’s season came to an end when they suffered an 0-11 to 1-13 defeat away to Tubberclair in last Sunday’s JFC ‘B’ quarter-final.
When the sides met at the same venue earlier in the year, Tubberclair ran out comfortable winners, but this time it was a lot closer. We trailed by 0-3 to 0-7 at half-time before resuming with points from Dean Fitzgerald (two) and Danny Scully to reduce the deficit to the minimum. But the hosts then struck for the only goal and went on to win, despite some excellent scoring by James Finnegan, Scully, Micheál Coffey and Cathal Finn.
Team: Leon Carberry; Kyle McMahon, James Fox, Martin Ward; Sean Hanlon, Colin Draper, Arthur O’Rourke; Eoin Dixon, Dean Fitzgerald; Danny Scully, Cathal Finn, Micheál Coffey; Shane Gorry, James Finnegan, Finbar Coffey. Sub: Michael Joyce.
