Division 3 v Multyfarnham

A late Conor Delaney goal was crucial to us earning a second draw in Division 3 of the All-County League at home to Multyfarnham last Saturday afternoon.

Points from Delaney, Micheál Coffey and James Finnegan had us 0-4 to 0-2 in front at the end of the opening quarter before the visitors replied with a goal to lead 1-4 to 0-6 at half-time. Delaney and Shaun Pidgeon responded to Multy points in the second half before Delaney’s 54th minute green flag edged us ahead.

But there were shades of our opening round draw with St Joseph’s when Multy equalised from an injury-time free. The final score was 1-9 each.

Team: Joey O’Neill; Martin Ward, James Fox, Sean Hanlon; Conor Carroll, James Hanlon, Mark Wrafter; Brendan McMahon, Darragh Coffey; Eoin Dixon, Shaun Pidgeon, Micheál Coffey; Danny Scully, Conor Delaney, James Finnegan.

Division 6 v Loughnavalley

Our second team opened their All-County Division 6 campaign with a 2-11 to 0-12 victory over Loughnavalley in MJS Builds St James’ Park last Sunday morning.

We led by 0-5 to 0-3 at half-time before second half goals from Cathal Finn and James Finnegan secured the win. It was great to see Josh Malone and Niall Rabbitte make their debuts – Josh marked his with a man of the match performance at corner back – and a return to action for Diarmuid Egan off the bench after a long injury layoff.

Team: Niall Rabbitte; Josh Malone, Mel Kiernan, Sean Hanlon; Mark Wrafter, Colin Draper, Arthur O’Rourke; Joey O’Neill, Eoin Dixon; Micheál Coffey, James Finnegan, Danny Scully; Cathal Finn, Darragh Coffey, Shane Gorry.

Last Man Standing

Congratulations to Darren O’Meara, Frances McLoughlin, Pat Geoghegan and Tasha Golden who are the winners of our 2024 National League Last Man Standing competition.

It was a nail-biting finish for Pat and Tasha as the Offaly footballers held on for a one-point win over Limerick. It means that the €400 prize money will be shared equally between the four winners. Well done also to Mel Kiernan for once again running the competition, the proceeds of which go towards club development.

Scór Sinsir

There was no joy for our representatives in last Saturday evening’s county Scór Sinsir finals at The Downs.

First into our action was our quiz team comprising Padraig Smith, Donal Fox, Randal Scally and James Fox. They finished fourth overall, with a very strong Mullingar Shamrocks team taking first place. Next up were the stage competitions. We had two acts in these. Katie Colton took part in the Solo Singing competition, while Geraldine Fennell, Bernice Kelly, Eileen O’Neill, Martin Dowdall, Pat Lynagh and Breda Bellew defended their Novelty Act title.

But despite performing brilliantly, neither act got the nod from the adjudicators. Well done to all our participants and to our neighbours Ballinagore and St Joseph’s who won the Club of the Year and Set Dancing respectively.

Lotto

Last week’s lucky numbers were 3, 10, 13 and 20. There were five Match 3 winners – Damian McLoughlin Mai Cunningham, Mary / Aimee Spollen, Geraldine Fennell and Anne McDaniel. The jackpot is capped at €15,000, while the rollover jackpot is also capped at €7,000. You can purchase your tickets in local shops or online.
