IFC v St Mary’s

All roads lead to Milltown next Sunday, August 25 for our penultimate IFC Section B against St Mary’s, Rochfortbridge at 3.30pm.

With Kilbeggan on five points and St Mary’s on four points, this is effectively a preliminary quarter-final. The winner will almost certainly be guaranteed a quarter-final spot and promotion to Section A for 2025. Our final group match will be against Multyfarnham, who currently lead the way with three wins from three.

Best of luck to the lads.

JFC B v Tang

Our second team made it two wins from three in the JFC B in a high-scoring encounter away to Tang last Tuesday evening.

For many of the players, management and supporters, it was a second trip to the Longford-border club in three days, having also hosted our drawn IFC Round 3 clash with Ballymore the previous Saturday. In an incredibly open game, goals from James Finnegan (three) and Danny Scully (two) along with points from Mark Wrafter, Darragh Coffey, Mel Kiernan and Colin Draper eased us into a 5-6 to 1-5 half-time lead.

Finnegan brought his tally to 4-1 in the second half before being replaced, Padraig Carton raised another green flag, while Wrafter, Coffey, Draper and Joey O’Neill also split the posts in a 7-15 to 3-14 victory. Another win in our last group game against St Malachy’s will qualify us for the knockout stages.

Team: Joey O’Neill; Martin Ward, Alan Fennell, Kyle McMahon; Colin Draper, Josh Malone, Arthur O’Rourke; Darragh Coffey, Mark Wrafter; Danny Scully, Padraig Carton, Mel Kiernan; James Finnegan, Colm Heffernan, Mark Sonner. Subs: Niall Rabbitte, Shane Gorry and Finbar Coffey.

Mothers & Others

Our Mothers & Others were delighted to host their Clara counterparts last week in a well-contested game as the countdown continues to their New York blitz in October.

Lar Donoghue Memorial tournament

Our U10 boys gave an excellent account of themselves in the inaugural Lar Donoghue Memorial tournament which was hosted by our neighbours Kilclonfert last Saturday.

Teams from Kilclonfert, Ballycommon, St Joseph’s (Streamstown) and Moynalvey (Meath) also took part in the tournament which was held as part of the host club’s centenary celebrations.

Lotto jackpot reaches €10,000

Last week’s lucky numbers were 13, 18, 20 and 25. There was no jackpot winner; the Match 3 winner was Carmel Buggy.

This week’s jackpot is €10,000! Don’t forget our new lotto box in Centra Kilbeggan which allows you to enter our weekly draw by filling in a lotto ticket and dropping it into the box. Draw takes place every Tuesday afternoon.
