IFC v Maryland
All roads lead to The Downs for our Shay Murtagh Intermediate Football Championship Section B Round 4 clash with Maryland this Saturday, September 6 at 6.30pm.
After losing to Milltownpass in the last round, the aim is to get back to winning ways and consolidate our intermediate status in what is a very tight group. The battle to join Milltownpass in the knockout stages is wide open also, so there’s still everything to play for ahead of the final round against Ballymore.
Ladies football v Shadonagh
Our ladies are gearing up for a season-defining game at home to Shandonagh in Round 5 of the Wright Windows Junior Championship this Thursday, September 4 at 7pm.
Despite losing our last two games to Clann Gaels and Tyrrellspass, a win would qualify us for the quarter-finals which would be a great achievement in our first year back competing at adult level. Last Friday’s local derby in Tyrrellspass didn’t work out as we had hoped with the home side prevailing on a 4-9 to 1-6 scoreline.
Grace Maloney – who starred in a thrilling U16 Championship win over the ‘Tidy Town’ a few days earlier – scored an early goal, but the more experienced hosts went on to lead by 3-4 to 1-2 at the break and extended their advantage in the second half.
Team: Morna Brady; Olivia Wrafter, Jennifer Barrett, Aideen Pettit; Abbie Coffey, Chloe Ruane, Aislinn Carey; Ayesha Roche, Aoibhin Jackson; Aíne Pettit, Anna Wrafter, Ava Rochford; Aleisha Fitzgerald, Jill Draper, Grace Maloney. Subs: Gillian Heeney, Bláithín Kelly, Carol McCabe, Aoife Finn, Chloe Gannon, Sarah Kiernan, Sharon Doonan, Holly Doyle, Louise Whelan, Narelle Saward.
